What I'm Doing Now

Here's a snapshot of what I'm currently up to. This page is inspired by the /now page movement.

Reading

It's been MONTHS and I have not done nearly as much reading as I would like to have done. That being said, I have made some progress on things. I finished "King in Yellow" by Robert W. Chambers. It was my first foray into cosmic horror, and I quite enjoyed it! I'll be reading more of the genre in the future. At the moment, I am working through my second Nabokov, "The Gift". I loved "Pale Fire" so much that I had to get another taste of his work. It is incredible so far, and dispite Russian being his first language, his english is so beautiful and poetic. Within The Word, I am finishing Daniel. Fascintating book, and there might be an article on what we can learn from it in the future.

Listening

I've been listening to a lot of new music in the past few months. Broken Social Scene has been my favorite artist as of late. I wanted more Arcade Fire-esque storytelling and grandoise instrumentation (AF's recent album was buns), and BSS has delivered greatly. "You Forgot it in People" is genuinely excellent.

General Learning

Two weeks of school left. Classes have been on the systems behind AI (not LLMs, pure machine learning), and some physical computing. Besides that, I am continuing to pick up on my Korean! Such a lovely language.

Thinking About

Leaving college has been heavy on my heart. I have finally put roots down in a place, only for them to be neglected for a time. I plan on returning soon, but having to leave in the first place is extraordinarily difficult. I have been thinking a lot about the nature of home and what it means to be "from" somewhere. I have been thinking about how to make the most of my time in the place I am now, and how to make the most of my time away from it as well.

Cyber

Nothing crazy in this department. I am continuing to learn about malware dev and EDR evasion. Recently, I've taken a plug into VLAN detection and exploitation. Maybe am article on that soon?

Site Updates

I have been doing a lot of work on the site this week (really just today lol). I made some significant changes to the content on the home page. Buttons have been moved to the links page, and their location has been filled with some fun status type widgets. As per the suggestion from a close friend of mine, the latest news section now shows the most recent piece of news first. There's a weather widget on the home page that is tuned to a city I care about, and there are two widgets that show case things that I have created. One of which shows the most recent articles that I have written (not many for the time being). The other shows a "photo of the month" that I have taken. The recent listening section has been linked to my Last.fm account, which tracks the music that I listen to.
